PHASE II ENVIRONMENTAL SITE ASSESSMENT

Properties impacted with hazardous materials present significant liabilities to property owners, industry, and government as a result of threatening natural resources or presenting potential or acute human health risks due to exposure.  A subsurface release of petroleum, solvent, or other hazardous substance often extends beyond property boundaries, influencing owners’ reputations, business operations, and sometimes the surrounding community.  GESI considers the site-specific operations and conditions, regulatory requirements, and client expectations in developing and implementing a site-specific work scope to identify the nature and extent of any impacts.

GESI has a reputation for expert assessments in evaluating geologic and hydrogeologic conditions, assessing soil, soil vapor, and groundwater contaminant fate and transport, and evaluating health risk and establishing cleanup goals. GESI understands the requirements of local, State, and Federal regulatory entities and develops Phase II ESA plans designed to expedite the route to regulatory case closure.  GESI assists clients with making informed business decisions by identifying factors that can impact property value or restrict property use and/or redevelopment.  The complexity of a Phase II Environmental Site Assessment is driven by the size of the contaminated property, the site geology/hydrogeology, the extent of contamination to soil and groundwater, the applicable regulatory requirements, and the available project funding.  GESI is experienced with a range of assessments from localized spills to regional soil and groundwater plumes that span property, jurisdictional, and legal boundaries.
